The book “Nagar Brahman Samaj Ka Udbhav Evam Vikas” which is penned by
renowned academician turned writer Dr.
Narendra Kumar Mehta can be undoubtedly regarded as one of the best
literary creations in the entire literary
history of Nagar Brahman Samaj.
In-fact, this is the second book in the row by the author, as prior to the
publication of this treatise, Dr. Mehta had already published a book on “The
Greatest Devotee-Poet Narsi Mehta”, which was highly acclaimed and
appreciated by avid readers and critics all over India and abroad. The book is still
in huge demand among Nagar Community. However, the present book is one step
ahead in terms of its contents and treatment of
subject matter. Time to time efforts
have been made to pen down the history of Nagar Brahman Samaj but perhaps for
the first time a book like the present one is successful in providing the
complete, compact and concrete history of Nagar Brahman Samaj. It is not a
matter of exaggeration that the book can be called as encyclopedia of Nagar
Brahman Samaj. The book is written in a
very simple and lucid but in effective language. After the close study of the
book it can be stated easily that book is prepared after years of intense
research and editorial work. Due care is taken to make the subject matter
vivid, interesting, and informative. Publication of any printing material
requires painstaking and sustainable efforts to this context this book appears
to be a product of meticulous labour. The cover page
of the book is designed in a very artistically manner as it has beautiful
coloured photographs of the scared idol of Shri Hatkeshwar along with outer
structure of the temple at Badnagar (Gujarat). The other photographs are of
Lord Mahakaleshwar and symbol of Nagar Samaj. The Inner cover page has
photographs of Hatkeshwar temples of Bambakhana
and Urdupura , Ujjain (MP) respectively. The author of the book is also figured
in one of the photographs. The inside back cover has photographs of the
Harsiddhipal temple of lord Hatkeshwar. The other photographs are of the world
famous Saint from Malwa , Pt kamal Kishore Nagarji Maharaj along with Om
Hatkeshwar Ashram, Semli, Shajapur (MP) which is set up by Maharaj himself. The
back cover page has photographs of Dashora Samaj
Dharamshala, Ganggour Darwaja, ujjain
(MP) and All Indian Dashora Samaj Dharamshala, Omkareshwar(MP).
To cover up the glorified and memorable history of Nagar Brahman
Samaj , the book is divided into 21 chapters. The
chapter 1 deals with the symbols of Nagar Brahman Samaj and their
significance and relevance. The chapter
2 explores the historical facts about the Nagar Brahman Samaj. The chapter 3 narrates the mythological
and historical saga of Nagar Brahman
Samaj. The chapter 4 describes the
origin and development of Nagar Brahman Samaj. The chapter 5 succinctly unfolds the historical past of Nagar
Brahman Samaj. The chapter 6
provides a general introduction of Gotra, Pravar, Avanthak, Kul, Devi,
Ganpatiji, and Brhamaji. The chapter 7
highlights Gotra, Purush and all the 48 sanskars of Nagar Brahman Samaj. The Chapter 8 is about the location and
facts about Badnagar and Hatkeshwar temple (Gujarat).
The chapter 9 depicts subcasts of
Nagar Brahman Samaj. The Chapter 10
describes the brief introduction of Dashora Brahman Samaj and chapter 11 further deals with the
glimpses of history of Dashora Brahman Samaj ( Mahajan). The chapter 12 reveals various surnames that are prevalent in Nagar
Brahman Samaj. The chapter 13
discusses the gems (Ratna) of Nagar Brahman Samaj who are source of inspiration
for our younger generation. The chapter
14 is about sixteen sanskars of divij casts. The chapter 15 unfolds the secret behind the jap of 108 names of
Lord Ganeshji, Shivji, Vishnuji, Hanumanji and Ma Gayatri. The
chapter 16 has 108 pious names of Lord Ganeshji, Shivji, Vishnuji,
Hanumanji and Ma Gayatri. The chapter 17 includes Shri Hatkeshwarsatvanashthka.

The chapter 19 portrays description of lord Shiva- Parvati temples located
at different parts of the world. The penultimate chapter 20 of the book contains the historical tale of ancient and
holy city of Ujjain
(MP). The last chapter 21 has the
list of referred study materials which are consulted in the course of writing
this book. Moreover, last few pages of the book contain very useful information
and sholka on Tweleve Jyotilinga and last but not least the famous bhajan of
Saint Shiromani Narsi Mehta –“Vaishnav Jan To…….” has been cited. This book can
be kept among the great collection of books in our home library. After going
through the golden pages of the unforgettable book one can easily feel pride to
be born as Nagar Brahaman as it enables one to become nostalgic about our
eventful and remarkable past. Above all the cost of this literary treasure is
only 50-/ Rs which is well within the reach of the pockets of common readers.
